Hello

I'm Katie

I'm a Mother, Wife, Blogger, Author, and Jane Austen Addict

If you're reading this, we are probably kindred spirits (and you probably also love Anne of Green Gables, am I right?). As aficionados of all things Jane Austen--or anything remotely like her books-- our hearts beat to the same drum and our souls crave the same thing: romance. We are always looking for something to lift our spirits.

I never knew what I craved until I read Pride and Prejudice at age fourteen. No one in my life told me how wonderful Jane Austen's novels were. I decided to read P&P after watching "You've Got Mail". Meg Ryan told Tom Hanks that she read it every year and is always in anguish as to whether or not Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet will really get together. "Read it, I know you'll love it," she suggested. Meg Ryan did not lead me astray. Now I follow her example and read Pride and Prejudice as often as I can, and watch the movies even more often. I went a step further, too, and write Regency Romance novels. Check those out here.

This blog began (in my head) as I watched Pride and Prejudice, aching over my love for Mr. Darcy, while I wondered who portrayed him best throughout the many adaptations. But I was not thinking which Darcy I liked best (I already knew that). I wanted to know who portrayed the character the way Jane Austen intended. Thus, the first article series: A Study of Mr. Darcy.

If you are a true Jane Austen fan, you didn't stop at Pride and Prejudice. Like me, you quickly found that all of her novels are equally wonderful. Each character is vibrant with their own intricacies that endear them to you in different ways. You might love the calm serenity of Anne in Persuasion, you could admire Emma's naivete and laugh at her antics, you might sympathize with Marianne when her hopes of marrying the man she loves are shattered. Or, you might, as I do, swoon at the thought of Mr. Knightley, Mr. Tilney, Captain Wentworth, Edmund Bertram, Mr. Ferrars, and the classic Mr. Darcy.

Possibly, reading is not your favorite thing and the movies or mini-series' capture your fancy. I do not judge, I love the movies more than I can say. Plus, our interests don't stop with Austen's works. They've branched into ALL historical romance, swoony romance, clean romance, or anything that gives us the same feelings as Austen. I welcome anything austen-esque.

What it all comes down to is, you know me. I am living life day to day, dreaming about delightful romance, just like you. Not to say that I'm not satisfied with my life. I am happily married to a hunk of a husband, we have a goofy son and a sassy daughter. Plus, I love writing!
